This is a question we get asked ALOT, and it is one of the hardest questions to answer as so many factors go into choosing the right machine for YOU.

But don’t fret, we have put together 6 steps to follow that will help you make an informed decision.

Here are 6 steps to take when choosing a PMU machine..

  1. Check the warranty on offer  - Although you may never need to use it, if you do, you want to make sure that the machine you are purchasing has a warranty of at least 1 year. Check out the terms & conditions of the warranty and ensure you are covered for any manufacturing faults. Most machines will come with a repair warranty, not a replacement warranty so just be aware that if there is a fault, you will need to send it off for repairs. So having a back up machine/s is so important!

  2. Check the compatibility with universal needle cartridges - There are a lot of machines out there that don’t use cartridges with safety membranes and that are not TGA approved. Ensuring you select a machine that takes universal cartridges, will not only be safer on your client & produce better results, but it will also allow you to have access to a variety of different brands and ranges from very reputable manufacturers. All of the cartridges we sell at Brow Shop are universal cartridges, view the range here.

  3. Do you prefer wireless or corded or both - There are pros and cons to both wireless and corded machines. Some artists prefer a wireless machine as it allows them to manouvre around the procedural area with ease, while others love a corded machine as they don’t need to worry about the battery running out mid-procedure. Luckily, there are now a range of wireless machines available that also allow you to attach a cord and power supply when needed.

  4. What services do you offer? - Make sure to choose a machine that has specifications designed to enhance the services you offer, ie. stroke length, e-give, voltage etc.

  5. Read other artist reviews - Check out what other artists are using and recommending. Look at artists that offer the same services as you to see what works for them. There are some great artist reviews on the Microbeau website, as well as demonstration videos and blogs.

  6. Do you prefer a lighter or heavier machine? - If you have small hands, you may not want a bulky, heavy machine that is going to cause hand fatigue. This is where it is important to look at the weight and specifications (length) of a machine.
As we can appreciate, it can be quite difficult to picture the size and weight in your own hands just by looking at a picture, so we came up with a solution to this. When you purchase a machine from Brow Shop, the machine will come security sealed which will allow you to feel the weight and size in your hand before taking it out of the protective plastic. If the weight is too heavy or size too bulky, you can return the machine as long as the security seal is still intact. Problem solved!

Now that you have completed these steps, all you need to do is make one of the hardest decisions…. Which colour should you get?

But seriously, choosing a machine is a very personal decision. Make sure you do your research, find a machine that has a great warranty & easy to access customer service, one that offers features that you find important and read other artist reviews.

If you have gone through the above checklist and you still aren’t confident in your choice of machine, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you further.
