HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments. 

The HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments is design to provide the skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention during skin penetration treatments and to review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. It requires the ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, self and work colleagues. This unit applies to professionals of skin penetration industry.

The course material for this program has been re-written and reviewed by Professionals in the industry including Tattoo Artists, Dentists, Beauticians and Body Piercers in conjunction with Qualified Workplace Trainers and Assessors. All content is relevant to body art and medical industries.

Course Pre-Requisites : None.

Student Requirements:

  • LLN - As a training provider we are now required by law to assess each student on their language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) before they attend training. This allows training providers to cater for every need for every student, and helps each student to achieve their full potential in training.
  • VSN (Victoria Only) - The Victorian Government has legislated and implemented a Victorian Student Number (VSN) for students in Victoria. VSN is assigned by the Department of Education and Training. 
  • USI (Unique Student Identifier) - All students doing nationally recognized training need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is a reference number made up of numbers and letters. It creates a secure online record of your nationally recognized training that you can access anytime and anywhere, and it’s yours for life. In order to receive a Statement of Attainment when completing your course you will need give us a copy your USI number. Creating a USI is free. To obtain this USI if you don’t already have one please follow the link below: http://www.usi.gov.au/ In order for students (parents, guardians or carers) to create a USI, please make sure you have one form of ID from the list below ready Examples of acceptable forms of ID:
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Medicare Card
  • Australian Passport
  • Visa (with Non-Australian Passport) for international students
  • Birth Certificate (Australian) *please note a Birth Certificate extract is not sufficient
  • Certificate Of Registration By Descent
  • Citizenship Certificate

    Some assessments require video evidence of the student performing certain tasks involving cleaning, use of an autoclave and general tasks.

    You will also need access to a Support Person- A support person is someone you know or work with that can work with you to complete an observation checklist. This support person will need to have relevant experience in the infection control industry.

    Examples of a Support Person: Co-worker, Boss, Manager, Friend with 12 months experience in the industry

    You must provide evidence of your Support Person’s qualification and/or experience in this industry with one of both of the following:

    – The Support Person is to provide a certified or verified copy of their Statement of Attainment for HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention or SHBBINF001 Maintain Infection Control Standards for Skin Penetration Treatments or the equivalent of this unit (Assessment staff of Eze Training will assist you with the determination of equivalency).

    – Evidence of their experience in the industry is to be provided in the form of a resume. The resume should be no older than 12 months and should provide evidence of your currency in the industry for a period of at least 3 year. The industry being referred to is the skin penetration industry.

    Course duration:

    Online component: self paced, approximately 72 hours.

    3 months course access online – subject to fees with expiry please see information sheet.

    Assessment Tasks:

    1. Multiple choice and short answer assessment questions.
    2. Video response questions
    3. Practical demonstration of skills and knowledge.
    4. Completion of Observation Checklist with Support Person.

    The course covers in theory and practice:

    • Comply with infection control regulations and guidelines and related legal obligations.
    • Monitor hygiene of premises.
    • Maintain infection control for skin penetration treatments.
    • Sterilise equipment and maintain steriliser
    • Maintain awareness of clinic design for control of infection risks.

    Our Express Post service is not affected by the rail network disruptions. If you need to send items to Western Australia urgently, consider this option. Please note that as more customers opt to use this service, there may be a two-day delivery delay.

    Any bulky or heavy items may incur a shipping charge, but you will be notified of this prior to us sending your order.

    Pick Up - For Adelaide Customers Only
    Only available Monday to Friday.

    Orders must be received before 12:00pm (ACST) to be available for pick up same-day. Orders received after this time will be available the next day. Simply select ‘Pick Up’ from the shipping options at checkout.

    You will receive confirmation once the order is ready for collection.

    INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING - DHL
    Shipping costs vary a lot depending on both your location and the size and weight of your order. We will continue to offer discounted shipping costs as much as we can, although we do need to pass on some shipping costs at checkout.

    Orders over $150 AUD (up to 50kg):
    Shipping on international orders over $150 will be calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order. Please contact us if you would like to order over 50kg in one order. Heavy and bulky items are likely to increase shipping charges dramatically. Shipping will be calculated at checkout and cannot be discounted.
